The Isle of Wight zoo is home to Britain's largest collection of tigers, and has been a dedicated ally to the tiger for over a quarter of a century. Also in the zoo are other big cats (lions, leopards, jaguars), lemurs, monkeys, snakes, spiders and lizards although it is their work with exotic cats that the zoo is most famous for. With a collection of 20 tigers, the iow Zoo is the ideal place to learn about them and the conservation efforts supportted by the zoo in India and Madagascar. Their commitment to education and conservation is revealed with presentations by the keepers that take place throughout the day.

You can also 'adopt' residents of the zoo, with choices such as Natasha the Siberian tiger or Monty the Burmese python. The zoo's mission statement is to ' promote the survival of endangered species through first class educational and recreational experiences, exemplary animal management, conservation and research.'

Open every day between February and October, and at weekends in November. Free entry can be gained through the adoption scheme.
