A much-loved local haunt, especially for surfers, Compton Bay is now a firm favourite with holidaymakers and second only to Sandown. One of the Island’s most unspoilt beaches, this is a two mile stretch of red gold sands, very windy at times and accessible only via steps. Voted best for action, Compton Bay is not only a surfer’s paradise but also ideal for swimming, windsurfing and other watersports. Walkers love it too and Compton has become famous for the dinosaur bones and rare fossils found in its crumbling cliffs.
